| Actually, rats shouldn't have a smell. If they do, their cage and all bedding needs to be changed a lot more often. Rats are fastidious groomers and take care of themselves as far as cleaning goes. | |

| What kind of cage do you keep your rats in? What do you feed them? What sort of stuff is in their cage?
If your rats smell and you're properly cleaning, there's something wrong with the situation that needs immediate remedy.

| I figured as much. Again, though, rats should have no smell at all. In fact, they should smell clean. If they do not, then something is amiss. | |

| I bathe my rats at most once a year, in fact only one of my current 6 has ever had a bath. I'll second Wench in saying that there is something very wrong if your rats need a bath every week and you're cleaning their cages every other day. | |

| But, they shouldn't smell at all! Rats, if cared for properly, should have absolutely no smell. I have 13 rats in my bedroom, and they never smell.
Also - how do you bathe them?

| Actually, bathing them that often removes essential oild from their skin and drys them out, not to mention traumatizes them.
I'll say again, with a thorough cage cleaning once a week you never know their are rats in my house.
